The FETE AGD line of jewelry

I first met Analicia Garcia-Dubrisingh, Designer of  the FETE AGD line of jewelry, upon the suggestion of Stephanie Ramlogan, my Fashion Stylist for the launch the 2013 issue of the TW Wed-Zine magazine.

I had never heard of her before but Stephanie insisted that I had to see this young designer's work. She thought it would be a perfect fit for the look she was creating for me, which she called: "chic, sophisticated entrepreneur at cocktail hour."

In the end, we met and after hitting it off and having a great conversation about fashion and design with Analicia and her brother Estevan, Analicia loaned me two very special pieces.

One was a "something blue" silk-satin cuff, with silver, white and pale pink cultured freshwater pearls, moonstones, pink Swarovski crystals and silver Czech glass beads sewn onto it.

The other was FETE's teardrop-cut, Rose-de-France amethyst necklace. This necklace was sterling silver with graduated amethysts, all together totaling about 10 carats.

So, it's no surprise that I would support and be eager to view Analicia's Thebes Collection, which she recently launched at The Gallery's Holiday showcase on November 21, 2013 at Long Circular Mall.

The Thebes Collection is named after an ancient Egyptian city of the same name.
It was inspired by a love of ancient far- Eastern and Egyptian art and design. The collection was formed following Analicia's visits to NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art, which exposed her to the impact of intricate detail and fluid, recurring forms.
This is why all of the hand-beaded circular pieces are called "Mandala" - after the Buddhist symbol. It's also why many of her collar necklaces and bracelets are color-blocked, with beaded bands - which are similar to Egyptian pieces; except that Analicia has created them in vivid, tropical colors.
It's amazing that Analicia is only 21 and since her launch of Fete A.G.D. in 2012, she has expanded in 2013, to include wedding pieces.

She will be going to London next year to study fashion design but plans to continue designing bi-annually released collections for her label, building it as she increases her design knowledge.
I'm so proud of her and happy to know her! Good luck Analicia on your design journey ahead...

Absolut "Originality" launches in Trinidad & Tobago

How about being surrounded by a few hundred, one-of-a-kind peices of art?

That's just what happened last night at the Media Launch for Absolut "Originality" at Tao Sushi.

The concept for this original bottle of Absolut Vodka is that each one is unique and made with a drop of cobalt blue, infused into the molten glass during production.

This elegant limited collection features only four million, individually designed bottles, which will be sold world-wide.

No doubt, these stunning bottles are sure to turn heads at your wedding bar.

To help unveil the new design, the staff at Marketing and Distribution ( who distribute Absolut ) brought in two amazing interactive artists - Warren Le Platte of Zigva who executed some mind-blowing light art combined with digital photography ( your photos come out with neon scribbles to the background, which are all hand-drawn by Warren)

The  next artist, Frank Seales featured an art installation piece in the shape of an Absolut bottle with a made-to-scale wooden frame.

Next to it was a trough of various types of wood pieces. Every guest got to choose one piece of wood and adhere it onto the frame and write their name on it.

The idea is that this art installation would rove over Trinidad & Tobago over the next 2-3 weeks, and club/restaurant patrons would also get a chance to add their own individual wooden block to the piece.
Cool factor? 100%

I chose a blue diamond-shaped piece of Pink Poui, as mine. See it below!

All in all, one Blue Martini and several pieces of sushi later, I'd have to agree with Absolut Brand Director, Mathias Westphal : "This classy (bottle) remake, celebrates the original thinking that has always been the Absolut creed and pays tribute to the world’s most iconic vodka.”

M&D’s ‘Discover’ Event

Marketing and Distribution’s (M&D) “Discover” event on October 5, 2013 was an absolute pleasure for www.trinidadweddings.com to cover.

It was a night of wine and premium liquor tastings, fine cheeses and appetizers that all culminated in quite a swanky soiree.

The objective of Discover was set to be more than a gathering of the nation’s taste-makers but also to provide an event for true connoisseurs to socialize and sample luxurious libations in an elegant environment

A selection of Crystal Farms' Cheeses paired with Gamay wines.

True to expectation, The Oval’s Century Ballroom was filled with a smartly-dressed crowd who savoured M&D’s display of its entire Wine and Spirits Portfolio.

Yes, that’s over 100 brands; such as Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque and Mumm Champagne, Absolut vodka, Ballantine’s 30 year-old Scotch, Jose Cuervo Res de la familia Cakebread (winner of the Readers' Choice Award for Best US wine), Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin, Cascine Prosecco and Fonseca 20 year-old Port to name a few.

There were also unique execution stations such as the Absolut Vodka Martini Makers Bar, Alize Cocktail Bar, Jose Cuervo shots as well as a Bubbly station.

One of my favourite cocktails is the Tom Collins. So a stand-out moment was when bartender Clinton made one for me on-the-spot with Beefeater 24 Gin. One of the best Tom Collins ever!

Tasty hors d’oeuvres such as scrambled eggs with caviar served on spoons, spinach filo pastries, samosas, shrimp and pineapple on skewers and chicken sliders were had by all in attendance.  Of note was Jaffa’s authentic Indian buffet, featuring naan, mushroom pakoras and butter chicken accompanied by a selection of Patak chutneys and sauces.

Guests were given champagne flutes as tokens and treated to a rocking after-party with DJ Nuphoric, as the event drew to a close.

Trinidadweddings.com’s relationship with M&D began when they were an elite sponsor for our event, The Wedding Convention in September 2013; and we certainly look forward to more fabulous events from M&D.
