A return to the 1950's - Trinidad Weddings at Stechers Shoppers' Night

Don't blame us - we're in the business of weddings, so there's nothing we love more than themed events (occupational hazard!); and even better...one that includes a starlet from the Old Hollywood era.

So, you know we were excited when our friends at Stechers ( there they are below, looking all glammed up!):

Sent us this:

Here are some snaps from the event:

Simone, Editor of Trinidad Weddings, takes a shopping break, in front of the Stechers Haven Spa, Long Circular Mall

One of my favourite perfume bottles on display - a work of art: Valentina by Valentino and ...who knew Pitbull had a fragrance for women too?
Trinidad Weddings' client Angostura, serves up some 1919!
Jewelry from John Medeiros, crafted in Rhode Island
Candles - loved the Wild Orchid and Sandalwood scent (middle)
Handmade, gold Peerless Cross pen, limited to a production of only 125 in the world!

More Marilyn! A quote of hers that I love?
"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."

This amazing porcelain sculpture below, by Lladró was on display at the event.

Guests were also treated to mehendi by our friend Nicole Joesph of Stained Mehendi and samples of organic tea.

Here's a snippet of the entertainment at the end:

‘Discover’ delights!

On October 4, 2014, the event “Discover” – hosted by Massy Distribution returned with a bang.

Following on its first year in 2013, it was easy for me to see that the event had grown in scale from last year to now. A fashionable crowd of T&T’s tastemakers, wine and liquor connoisseurs and trend-setters flocked to the Radisson Hotel Trinidad, in Port of Spain, to sip and sample Massy’s entire Wine and Spirits Portfolio, from around the world.

On show, were familiar brands such as: Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal Scotch, Royal
Salute Whiskey, Jose Cuervo Tequila, Malibu Rum,Beefeater Gin, Perrier-Jouët &
Mumm Champagne, Vina Maipo Wines, Louis Jadot, George Du Beouf,
Kendall Jackson, Jacobs Creek and Wyndham Estates.

However, there were some new offerings as well, that I thought I’d try - such as the selection
of Massy’s wines imported from Italy.

L-R: Fabio visited from Italy, to showcase Massy's Italian wine selection, Simone Sant-Ghuran - Editor of www.trinidadweddings.com and Nick Rajcoomar from Massy Distribution

Another one I sampled was a sweet, fruity, red French wine by Pierre Marcel, Mellow Reserve, which I thought would be ideal for couples having an outdoor wedding.

David from France, pouring me a glass of Pierre Marcel

As a complement to over 100 of Massy’s renowned brands, there were other attractions like:

  • International cheese stations
  • Delectable hors d’oeuvres and desserts
  • A Bubbly Bar (my personal favourite with a selection of Perrier-Jouët, Mumm Champagne and Cascine 7 Prosecco)
  • An authentic Indian food buffet showcasing the Patak range of products, offered by Massy
  • A scotch lounge, and;
  • A Sober Zone for those who needed it.

Although the cocktail event started at 5pm, by 8pm and straight until 11pm, the atmosphere was electric, with music and entertainment by DJ Nuphoric whose energy ensured that the crowd was pumped!

Is Discover a must-attend event for 2015?

I'd sure say so!
DJ Neuphoric hyping up the crowd!

Stechers launches new cosmetic brand from Paris

Luxury goods provider, Stechers invited the TW Wed-Zine Magazine to cover the launch of “Black Up”- a new cosmetic brand from Paris, at its Long Circular Mall perfumery.

Black Up is the first makeup artist brand created especially for women of colour.

Guests arriving for the launch
During a TW exclusive interview with Stecher’s General Manager, Simone Agar, she explained the need for yet another cosmetic line to the Stechers’ offering:

“What we have discovered is that some of our other European makeup brands were producing colours and tones mainly for Caucasian and Asian skin types. We hope that with the launch of Black Up in Trinidad that we will be able to provide all women with both a full palette of foundation options as well brighter pigments for lipsticks, eyeshadows, liquid liners and blushes. “

Pro Make-up Artist (MUA),  Kirk Thomas - who’s also Creative Director for the Face of T&T and the senior MUA for Miss T&T Universe, helped developed a portfolio of seasonal looks to highlight the versatility and intense pigments of the Black up line.

Tina Hamilton, the Caribbean’s Regional Manager for the French cosmetic company was on-hand at the launch, to showcase how the Black Up line seeks to celebrate the unique nature of ethnic skin.

Wedding Professionals Network At "Evenings With Trinidad Weddings (TW)"

Trinidad Weddings hosted its first "Evenings with TW" at the Anchorage Beach Club on Friday January 17, 2014.

It was a lovely evening for Trinidad Weddings' members who include: event planners, decorators, photographers, cake artists, florists, bridal registry representatives, venue owners, artisans and entrepreneurs who provide services for weddings and events.

This was the first, formal networking event for local wedding professionals in Trinidad & Tobago.

Guests came together to get to know one another, in a relaxed atmosphere, with beautiful ambiance by the sea at The Anchorage Beach Club.

A complimentary craft station by the Bead Café.

Complimentary hors d'oeuvres by Flair Restaurant:

There was also an educational element to the event - Tricia Ramoutar-Soo Hon from INTACTT, the Guest Speaker, discussed how to manage cash flow in your business by using a demonstration of a pitcher of coloured water and glasses. (*see photo below).

After this, guests got to meet each other during an entertaining  “deck of cards” networking game.  A pair of guests who had matching cards was chosen as the winners and presented with prizes.

Closing off the night, was a performance by tenor vocalist, Andre Mangatal.

Lime.tt was also there providing photo coverage for the event and promoting their "Photo Keepsakes", a service where photos are taken and printed on-site for any event.

Part proceeds from the event went to the Archie Stephen's home in Warrenville

It is funded currently only by St. Vincent de Paul. This home caters for children of the Cyril Ross Home and other homes who get too old to live there but still need room & board somewhere.
